1963

Appointed As Magistrate

Appointed to the judiciary as magistrate of the Khartoum North Criminal Court.

1964

District Judge

Appointed District Judge of Khartoum.

End of 1964

Labour Cases

Chosen to oversee the centralization of all labour cases in Khartoum.

1965

Resignation from the Judiciary

Resigned from the judiciary to head up Former Prime Minister Mohamed Ahmed Mahgoub’s Chambers.

1966

Established Omer Abdelati Law Firm

Established the Omer Abdelati Law Firm which handled a complex portfolio of cases, Criminal, Civil Partnership and Company Law, Non-Muslim and Muslim Personal Law Cases. The firm also handled cases outside Sudan including in Egypt, Yemen, Uganda and Lebanon.

1984

Honorary Citizen of Louisiana State

Mr. Abdelati was made an honorary citizen of Louisiana State, USA in recognition of his contribution to facilitate the entry of U.S. crops to aid the famine-struck Darfur region.

1984

Vice President of the Bar

Elected Vice President of the Bar Association.

1985

Attorney General & Minister of Justice

Appointed the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Sudan.

As Minister of Justice during Sudan’s transitional government, he drafted and amended all business and commercial Laws.

1986

Returned to Omer Abdelati Law Firm.

Returned to his work at the Omer Abdelati Law Firm.
